BVI Day Trip: Documents, Entry Forms & Fees

Prepare travel documents and the digital BVI entry card, check visa needs, and ask which border and port charges your ferry ticket includes.

A BVI day trip is an international crossing. Check each traveler’s passport and visa requirements, complete the government’s digital entry process, and ask the operator which border and port charges are included in the quoted ticket.

Check documents for every person

BVI Immigration’s March 2025 notice requires non-BVIslanders and non-Belongers to hold a valid passport book or, for U.S. travelers, a U.S. passport card for the duration of the stay. Check with the carrier that your document is accepted for your route; a passport card cannot replace a passport book for international air travel.

Visa and re-entry requirements depend on nationality, immigration status and how you travel. Check both BVI admission and your return to the USVI before purchasing. A short visit or a ticket sold online does not remove those requirements.

Complete the official digital declaration

The BVI Government’s entry/departure-card service says to submit within 72 hours before travel and recommends doing so at least 24 hours ahead. Follow its linked authorized portal and retain the confirmation for inspection.

Have your travel-document details, vessel information, dates, accommodation address and email ready. Follow the government’s instructions if a detail changes; do not copy another passenger’s information or rely on an old confirmation.

Ask for the complete price

Ask the operator to distinguish the fare from arrival, departure, port and baggage charges. Request the total for your group, including any child or resident treatment, and ask which charges are collected separately.

Do not apply air-departure charges to a ferry journey or assume a charter quote uses the same fee treatment as a public ferry. Check accepted payment methods and keep receipts. This guide does not quote an all-in border fee because the applicable charges and inclusions must be confirmed for your trip.

Save a simple crossing folder

Keep your ticket, return confirmation, entry-card confirmation, host address and operator contacts together. Have each traveler check their own document validity before departure day. If requirements are unclear, get an answer from Immigration or the carrier before paying.
