The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says consumers should immediately stop using about 195,000 JKMAX heated blankets and heating pads because their internal heating wires can overheat, creating fire and burn hazards.
JKMAX has received 577 reports of the products smoking, melting or burning, including 53 reported burn injuries. The recall covers all of the company's heating pads and heated blankets, including models JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B and JKMAX-8490B.
The products were sold on Amazon from September 2022 through July 2026 as one- or two-packs. They came in blue, gray, brown and red and in multiple sizes. The model number appears on the back of the detachable white controller and on a white label attached to the packaging.
CPSC directs owners to stop using the product and contact JKMAX for a full refund. Amazon customers can also check the retailer's Recalls and Product Safety Alerts page for order-specific information; recalled products should not be donated or resold.
