USVI early voting opens with 1,145 ballots cast

St. Croix and St. Thomas voting continues daily through October 31; St. John begins October 23, while off-island mailed absentee applications are due October 20.

The Elections System reports 1,145 ballots cast on the first day of 2026 general-election early voting: 618 on St. Croix, 519 on St. Thomas and eight on St. John.

Early voting continues daily through October 31 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the St. Croix Elections Office in Sunny Isles Shopping Center and the St. Thomas office in Lockhart Gardens. St. John early voting is scheduled for October 23–31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Elections Office in The Marketplace.

The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot that must be mailed off island is Tuesday, October 20. The agency says voters may request emailed or in-person absentee ballots through 5 p.m. on general-election day, November 3.

Opening-day turnout is a participation count, not a result or projection. Voters in the St. Thomas–St. John District may use either Elections System office within that district, according to the agency's notice.
