Public Works says the Fort Christian Parking Lot in Charlotte Amalie is closed to the public Saturday, October 31, for a private event.
The deadline to remove vehicles from the public portion of the lot was 10 p.m. Friday. DPW warns that vehicles left in the closed area may be towed at the owner's expense.
Parking spaces designated for the V.I. Police Department remain accessible and are not part of the public closure. Motorists heading downtown should use another lawful parking option and follow any posted traffic controls.
DPW's notice does not provide a reopening time. The lot should not be treated as available again until the closure has ended and current signs permit public parking.
DPW should include a closure-end time and a map of nearby public parking options in future same-day downtown notices.
