West End paving reaches 4,000 feet; sidewalk work continues

The completed Tortola road surface is part of a wider corridor project, while crews are targeting the end of October for the remaining sidewalk work.

The Ministry of Communications and Works says paving is complete along 4,000 linear feet of roadway in West End, Tortola. Crews are now concentrating on sidewalk work, which the ministry expects to finish by the end of October.

The completed segment forms part of rehabilitation along the Sir Francis Drake Highway between Fort Recovery and Cox Heath, including drainage, coastal-defence and seawall work intended to improve safety and resilience.

The wider nine-mile programme runs between the Road Town and West End ferry terminals. Government signed a $14.08 million contract with Tortola Paving Company Limited in December 2025 for corridor rehabilitation funded through its infrastructure loan programme.

Completion of the paved segment does not mean the wider corridor project is finished. Sidewalks and other programme elements remain underway, and the ministry has not published a final completion date for all nine miles.
