RVIPF increases patrols after three Tortola business robberies

Police are investigating whether the incidents are connected and have not identified or charged suspects in the public statement.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force says it has increased targeted patrols after three armed robberies at Tortola businesses, including incidents in Manuel Reef and Road Reef on October 10 and 11.

Preliminary police information says two masked people wearing gloves and travelling on scooters were involved in the two weekend incidents. Investigators are examining whether those cases are connected to a September 25 robbery along Blackburn Highway in Purcell.

No suspect has been publicly identified or charged in the three cases. RVIPF says the increased patrols are intended to deter further incidents, strengthen tactical response and support businesses and residents while detectives pursue several lines of inquiry.

Police advised businesses to check that surveillance systems work, limit visible cash and promptly report suspicious activity, especially involving concealed identities. Information can be provided to the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9593.
