Preparatory work has begun on the Road Town Jetty Enhancement Project, according to BVI Platinum News, which observed activity at the facility on Saturday. The BVI Ports Authority had announced a September 26 start.
BVIPA says the project is intended to improve port infrastructure, operational efficiency and maritime facilities. Its notice did not provide a completion date, contract value or detailed construction scope.
Passengers, port users and other visitors should use caution near the work area and follow posted signs and directions from authorized personnel. The start of work does not establish that any particular phase is complete or that normal access is unchanged.
BVIPA should publish the project scope, contractor, budget, expected completion date and any temporary access or ferry-service changes.
