The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change has given owners 10 days from its October 12 notice to remove derelict or abandoned vehicles stored on Crown land in Johnson Ghut, Tortola.
Officials say more than a dozen vehicles were identified and cite environmental, public-health and pest concerns. The notice is a voluntary-removal window, not confirmation that every vehicle is abandoned or that enforcement has already begun.
The ministry says the Crown Lands Management Act, 2024, allows administrative penalties for non-compliance. Crown land and other public areas are not authorized disposal or storage sites for vehicles, parts, household waste or debris.
Residents can also report abandoned vehicles, illegal dumping and related concerns directly to the ministry. The release does not publish a vehicle-by-vehicle list, towing schedule or penalty table.
The ministry should publish a clearly dated inventory or identification process, the exact compliance deadline and the enforcement and appeal steps that apply after the courtesy period.
