The BVI government says $13 million is being directed toward the territory's water-supply problems and longer-term system reliability.
The total includes $8 million allocated to water from a 2024 loan and an additional $5 million Cabinet-approved allocation that the government says will be taken to the House of Assembly. Planned uses include pipes, meters, reservoir rehabilitation, leak monitoring and remote system controls.
The government also reported rehabilitation work at Hannah Hill, Zion Hill and Carrot Bay reservoirs and plans to recommission a Sea Cows Bay desalination plant. The Hannah Hill reservoir has separately been reported as recommissioned and distributing water to nearby communities.
The commitment does not establish that every project is fully contracted or complete. Residents should continue checking Water and Sewerage notices for current service conditions.
