Applications are open for WAPA's 2027 Alva C. McFarlane Scholarship Program, with awards available in each district for engineering, technical and skilled-trade study.
The program offers up to $80,000 for bachelor's-degree study, up to $60,000 for an accredited engineering master's program and up to $30,000 for associate degrees, trade school or technical certification.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and Virgin Islands residents with no criminal record. WAPA says selection considers academic performance, test scores, community involvement and a panel interview; eligible expenses include tuition, housing, books, fees and supplies.
Applications are due January 15, 2027. Students should review the individual category rules before applying because the eligible fields, education levels and maximum support differ.
