The Department of Public Works says full VITRAN service is scheduled to resume across St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John on Tuesday, September 8, following the Labor Day holiday.
The fixed-route network did not operate Monday, and only limited ADA paratransit was available on St. Thomas and St. Croix. That special holiday schedule is no longer the current service notice.
Riders should return to their regular route information Tuesday and confirm any individual trip if a bus does not arrive as expected. DPW had not announced an extension of the shutdown at the morning verification time.
DPW should place a dated service banner on the VITRAN homepage and route pages, publish the same notice at major stops and ferry terminals, and state the booking cutoff for holiday ADA paratransit trips.
