The V.I. Police Department is warning residents about fraudulent text messages that claim the recipient owes a traffic fine and must pay online. VIPD says the messages are not connected to the department or any legitimate U.S. Virgin Islands government agency.
Recipients should not click the included link, reply or provide personal, financial or identifying information. Police recommend deleting the message and sharing the warning with relatives and neighbors who may receive similar texts.
