The U.S. Department of Agriculture has published the fiscal 2027 cost-of-living adjustments for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The new figures apply from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027.
For the U.S. Virgin Islands, the maximum monthly allotment will be $394 for one person, $723 for two, $1,039 for three and $1,315 for four. The four-person maximum is $292 higher than the $1,023 amount for the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C.
The same federal tables set the territory's maximum excess-shelter deduction at $606, compared with $769 in the 48 states and D.C. Standard deductions will be $191 for Virgin Islands households of one to three people, $229 for four, $268 for five and $308 for six or more.
These are maximums and deductions used in eligibility and benefit calculations, not a promise that every household will receive the listed allotment. Actual benefits depend on household size, countable income, allowable deductions and program rules administered locally.
The V.I. Department of Human Services should publish a plain-language local calculator and worked examples before October 1, with clear separation between maximum allotments, income limits, deductions and the separate work-requirement changes that began September 1.
