Parent workshops will address student wellness and suicide warning signs

Education Department sessions run October 13–15 on St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix, with one evening workshop on each island.

The V.I. Department of Education is inviting parents and guardians to free workshops on recognizing student mental-health concerns, suicide warning signs, supportive conversations and available resources.

The St. John session is Tuesday, October 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Julius E. Sprauve School cafeteria. The St. Thomas session is Wednesday, October 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ruth E. Thomas Auditorium at Charlotte Amalie High School.

The St. Croix session is Thursday, October 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the St. Croix Educational Complex High School auditorium. Licensed counselor Dr. Vincentia Paul-Constantin will lead the discussions.

The workshops are educational sessions, not emergency care. Residents can call or text 988 for crisis support; call 911 when there is an immediate threat to life or safety.
