The V.I. Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Thymothy Rodriguez at the Titan Service Station in La Grande Princesse, St. Croix.
Police were called at approximately 9:57 p.m. Wednesday after a resident reported a gunshot victim. Responding officers found Rodriguez on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, and emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
VIPD classified the case as a first-degree murder investigation. The initial report did not identify a suspect, motive or the events that led to the shooting.
The Virgin Islands Consortium, citing police figures, reported that Rodriguez's death was the 20th homicide recorded on St. Croix and the 35th territory-wide in 2026. Those totals include the fatal Estate Glynn stabbing reported earlier this week.
Anyone with information should contact 911, the VIPD Criminal Investigation Bureau or Crime Stoppers USVI at 800-222-8477. Tipsters should rely on official channels and avoid circulating unverified names or claims while the investigation remains open.
VIPD should issue a dated follow-up when investigators identify a suspect, make an arrest or determine there is no continuing public threat, and maintain a consistent public dashboard explaining territory-wide homicide counts.
