WAPA's contractor is scheduled to begin underground utility work Thursday, September 10, along Subbase Road and Nisky Lane near Crown Bay Road. The first phase requires closing the eastbound lane at the Nisky Lane intersection.
Crews will cut and excavate the roadway, install conduits connecting to the existing duct-bank system and restore the road before reopening the affected lane. WAPA did not publish a specific completion time or end date for this phase.
Flaggers and temporary traffic-control devices will guide vehicles through the area. Drivers should expect lane restrictions, traffic shifts, periodic stops and delays around Subbase Road, Nisky Lane, Nisky Center and Crown Bay Road.
Pedestrian access is expected to remain available where needed, and WAPA says nearby homes, businesses and properties will retain access as much as possible. The utility plans additional notices as construction moves beyond the Phase 1 work area.
WAPA should publish a simple work-zone map, daily operating hours and an estimated phase-completion date, then issue a clear all-open notice when the lane restriction ends.
