Partners for Strings and Paradise Point Tramway will hold the inaugural Paradise Point Road Race on Saturday, October 17. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and benefits the Partners for Strings Virgin Islands Youth Orchestra.
The warm-up begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race starts at 7 a.m. from G-Clef Music Academy in Mandela Circle. The nearly two-mile incline climbs about 700 feet to the top of Paradise Point on Flag Hill; organizers say participants will walk back down after finishing.
Registration is $35 for adults through October 2 and $45 afterward. Youth registration is $25. The official page also offers separate volunteer and donation options for people who do not plan to complete the course.
Partners for Strings operates free year-round after-school and summer music programs for young people ages 6 through 17. The organization says more than 150 students have participated since 2022 and the current youth orchestra has more than 30 members.
Organizers should publish a traffic and safety plan before race week, including temporary road controls, hydration and medical points, parking, accessibility options and the expected reopening time for affected streets.
