Fort Christian parking lot closes Saturday; vehicles left overnight may be towed

Public Works says motorists must remove vehicles by Friday night and arrange alternate parking for August 29 while the lot accommodates a private event.

The Fort Christian Parking Lot in Charlotte Amalie will be closed to the public on Saturday, August 29, while the site is used for a private event, according to the V.I. Department of Public Works.

The last opportunity to park in the public portion of the lot is Friday, August 28, at 10 p.m. Vehicles remaining during the closure may be towed at the owner's expense, so drivers should relocate before the deadline and plan another option for Saturday.

Parking spaces designated for the Virgin Islands Police Department will remain accessible and are not included in the public closure. Public Works had not announced a broader traffic shutdown connected to the event as of Friday morning.

SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENT

Post a closure-end time and a short list or map of nearby public parking alternatives so motorists can plan a complete trip rather than only learning where they cannot park.
