The V.I. Police Department is investigating the deaths of 56-year-old Carmen Ferdinand and her husband, 57-year-old Dennis Ferdinand, who were found Saturday night inside a residence in Estate St. John, Christiansted.
According to police information reported by the Virgin Islands Consortium, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report at approximately 8:24 p.m. from a woman who found an unresponsive female inside the home and then left to call authorities.
Responding officers found Carmen Ferdinand with severe stab wounds to her upper body. Detectives later found Dennis Ferdinand unresponsive in a bathroom with what police described as a possible gunshot wound.
VIPD says its preliminary findings indicate the deaths may be a homicide-suicide. That assessment is not a final determination, and investigators have not publicly released a complete sequence of events or final cause-and-manner findings.
