One dead, three injured in Castle Burke collision

Police identified the driver killed in Saturday's two-vehicle St. Croix crash as 22-year-old Jeralys M. Guzman; one passenger remained critically injured when the incident was reported.

The V.I. Police Department says a two-vehicle collision near the Queen Mary Highway and East Airport Road intersection in Estate Castle Burke killed 22-year-old Jeralys M. Guzman early Saturday.

Traffic Investigation Bureau detectives were dispatched at approximately 4:54 a.m. Police said Guzman was driving a Toyota RAV4 that collided with an Acura; she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A front-seat passenger in the RAV4 was taken to Juan F. Luis Hospital in critical condition. The two people in the Acura were also hospitalized with injuries described as not life-threatening.

The police account is preliminary. Investigators had not announced the cause of the collision or assigned fault when the report was published, and the investigation remains open.
