Angelo Javier Carmona pleaded guilty Friday to voluntary manslaughter and possession of ammunition in connection with the June 5, 2025 killing of 38-year-old Jordan “Dutty Heart” Jones on the Christiansted boardwalk.
Carmona, who was 15 at the time of the shooting and was charged as an adult, entered the plea before Superior Court Judge Venetia Velázquez. Court records cited by WTJX show that a conviction was entered, ending a case that had been scheduled for trial Monday.
Under the agreement, prosecutors will recommend up to 10 years of incarceration for voluntary manslaughter and up to seven years for ammunition possession. The judge will determine the sentence and could order the terms to run consecutively, producing a maximum of 17 years under the counts included in the plea.
The remaining charges are to be dismissed with prejudice under the agreement. Sentencing is scheduled for October 13, when the court will decide the final punishment rather than automatically adopting the prosecution's recommendation.
